PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a metal based corrosion resistant material as an inner wall material for an autoclave for crystal growth capable of withstanding the various conditions of a solvent, high temperature and high pressure and free of deterioration such as reduction and hydrogen embrittlement, with the case where, as the solvent to the autoclave, mainly, water or a nonaqueous solvent is used is assumed, and to provide its production method. SOLUTION: The corrosion resistant material is characterized in that, with a valve metal as a base material, a protective layer in which a metal iridium layer and an iridium oxide-containing layer are successively formed is provided on the surface of an oxide film thereof, or, with a valve metal as a base material, a protective layer in which a platinum thin layer, a metal iridium layer and an iridium oxide-containing layer are successively formed is provided on the surface of an oxide film thereof.
