<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent deterioration in image quality such as decrease in image density and soil on a base without depending on the image ratio of an image even when such a developing apparatus is used that a two-component developer is supplied to a developer carrying body while circulating the developer in the longitudinal direction of the developing apparatus by using a plurality of transport members. <P>SOLUTION: The developing apparatus is equipped with a developer carrying body 23a to carry a developer, a first transport member 23b to transport the developer in the longitudinal direction of the developer carrying body 23a, and a second transport member 23c to transport the developer in the opposite direction to the transport direction of the first transport member 23b. Further, the apparatus is equipped with a dispersing means 46 to disperse toner replenished through a toner replenishing port 26a into the developer circulating in the circulation passage.
