PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a developing roller capable of making a toner layer uniform in thickness to obtain an excellent image having no density unevenness. SOLUTION: When the developing roller is made to enter a latent image carrier by 20 to 70μm, the gap between the developing roller and latent image carrier is≤3 times as large as the size of a toner particle in use and the length of the gap in a longitudinal direction is≥2 times as large as the gap quantity.
