CO2 emissions from Fischer-Tropsch (FT) facilities are controlled by using multiple reactors. A process for the conversion of syngas comprises reacting a first syngas in a first FT reactor to form a first hydrocarbon product and a second syngas. The second syngas is mixed with a hydrogen stream to form an adjusted syngas. At least part of the adjusted syngas is reacted in a second FT reactor to form a second hydrocarbon product and a third syngas, wherein the third syngas contains less CO2 than was present in the adjusted syngas. At least part of the first and second hydrocarbon products are then blended. This process may be combined with the production of the syngas, and with conversion of the blended hydrocarbon product into products such as jet or diesel fuel, lubricants or naptha. The third syngas may be recycled by blending with the first syngas. A gas-to-liquids facility comprises the two FT reactors, a hydrogen source and a blender. Preferably, the first FT reactor uses a cobalt catalyst, while the second FT reactor uses an iron catalyst.
|
