REAGENT FOR EXTRACTING RNA

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for extracting and analyzing a high-purity RNA from a biological specimen containing the RNA by a safe, rapid and ready operation. SOLUTION: The reagent containing a chaotropic agent in a prescribed concentration and an organic solvent in a prescribed concentration is added to a biological specimen containing the RNA in a free state, and the resultant mixture is mixed. A nucleic acid-binding solid is brought into contact with the obtained mixed liquid, and the resultant nucleic acid-binding solid having the RNA bound therewith is washed. The RNA is eluted from the nucleic acid-binding solid having the RNA bound therewith. The obtained RNA is analyzed by a reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) or the like.
