The access protection and/or individual configuration method uses a sensors incorporated in a remote-control transmitter or the image screen device, for providing biometric data identifying the user, for accessing user profile data held in a memory (8), to allow free operation of the device and/or to provide the individually selected configuration, entered by using a cursor to select the operating functions displayed on the screen.
