The invention relates to an acceleration measuring device for an occupant protection system of a vehicle (40), comprising: a controller (30), which is centrally arranged inside the vehicle (40) and which has at least one central acceleration sensor (32); a sensor arrangement for recognizing an impact with a direction in a plane of motion (X, Y) of the vehicle, which is located outside of the controller (30), and; at least two devices (10, 20) for recording an acceleration, whereby each of these at least two devices (10, 20) have only one acceleration sensor (12, 22) with a direction of sensitivity (18, 28), which is located in the plane of motion (X, Y) of the vehicle containing the longitudinal axis of the vehicle (42) and the transversal axis of the vehicle (46). The direction of sensitivity (18, 28) of each of the acceleration sensors (12, 22) is, in the plane of motion, neither oriented parallel nor perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the vehicle (42) so that each acceleration sensor (12, 22) can reliably detect accelerations both in a direction parallel to the longitudinal axis of the vehicle (42) as well as parallel to the transversal axis of the vehicle (46). The controller (30) is designed for producing a plausibility-based decision signal by using at least one sensor signal of one of the two acceleration sensors (12, 22) of the at least two devices (10, 20) and by using the sensor signal of the central acceleration sensor (32). |
