PROCESS FOR MATCHING A TARGET COLOR

A process for matching a target color comprises the steps of obtaining data representative of the target color to be matched matching the target color with a textile dye or with a mixture of textile dyes by determining the required amount of the respective textile dyes, applying to a substrate by means of an inkjet printer a printing ink or a mixture of printing inks representative of the matching color of the determined textile dye or mixture of textile dyes so as to obtain a physical sample of the matching color, the inkjet printer using printing inks having the same chromophores as those contained in the textile dye or mixture of textile dyes analyzing the color of the physical sample in order to determine whether or not the color of the physical sample is sufficiently close to the target color.
