PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide to a user a television set of a new way of thinking which enables the user to enjoy television broadcasting while charging the battery of a portable television, never causing a feeling of watching the same portable television, and effective as an accessary of a room. SOLUTION: The portable television 1 is formed in a thin box having a liquid crystal monitor 4 and operation buttons 5 disposed on the front surface. A charging box 2 is formed so as to simulate a cathode-ray tube type television, and an openable/closable cover member 20 is provided on the front surface so that a fitting recess 21 for fitting the portable television 1 is exposed when the cover member 20 is opened. A transparent window 35 having the same size as that of the liquid crystal monitor 4 and pressing buttons 36 linking with the operation buttons 5 are provided on the front surface of the cover member 20, and a charger 27 for charging the battery built in the portable television 1 and speakers 29 are provided on the charging box 2.
