PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a massage device capable of lightly rubbing and a chair type massage machine using the same. SOLUTION: This massage device 1 is provided with a therapy element 2 planarly contacting with a portion to be treated. The therapy element 2 massages the portion to be treated by receiving the rotation of a driving shaft 30 rotated by a rotation drive part 3. The movement of the therapy element 2 is determined by a power transmission part 4 interposed between the therapy element 2 and the driving shaft 30. The power transmission part 4 orbitally moves the therapy element 2 around the driving shaft 30 by receiving the rotation of the driving shaft 30 to move the therapy element 2 along the portion to be treated, regulates the autorotation of the therapy element 2 by the orbital movement, and sequentially converts the rotating movement of the driving shaft 30 to the rubbing operation of the therapy element 2. That is to say, the therapy element gives similar stimulation to the light rubbing, or the rubbing operation with the palm of the human body relative to the portion to be treated.
