PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrifier having a fur brush which is brought into contact with a body to be electrified, by which uniform steady electrification is ensured for a long time and ozoneless electrification is achieved at a low voltage and at a low cost, and also to provide an electrophotographic image forming apparatus by which formation of satisfactory images in which image noises are hindered is ensued for a long time by using such an electrifier. SOLUTION: The electrifier 2 includes the fur blush 21 that is brought into contact with the body to be electrified (photoreceptor) 1, and electrifies the body via electrifying auxiliary particles 3 between the fur brush and the body. Recesses 2c in which the electrifying auxiliary particles 3 are held are formed on the surfaces of the fibers 2b of the fur brush. If a cross-section of each of the fibers 2b of the fur brush is S[μm<SP>2</SP>] and a circumferential length of the cross-section is L[μm], a condition of L/2(II×S)<SP>1/2</SP>≥1.1 is satisfied.
