PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a branched polycarbonate resin which has a low content of a branching agent, exhibits excellent thermal stability, hardly suffers from drawdown and can be stably formed at the time of processing such as extrusion molding, blow molding, injection molding or vacuum forming, and its manufacturing method. SOLUTION: The branched polycarbonate resin is obtained by a reaction of a bivalent phenol, the branching agent, monovalent phenols and phosgene, where the content X of the branching agent (the molar number of the branching agent/the molar number of the bivalent phenol×100) is 0.1-0.7 mol%; when the branched polycarbonate resin is divided into three portions having a weight-average molecular weight range, in terms of polystyrene, of (i)≥3.4×10<SP>4</SP>, (ii) 1.0-3.4×10<SP>4</SP>and (iii)≤1.0×10<SP>4</SP>, respectively, the branching agent concentrations (mol%) in the branched polycarbonate resin in the respective molecular weight ranges, satisfy the expressions (1) and (2) below; and the total N amount and the total Cl amount in the polycarbonate resin are 0-20 ppm and 0-200 ppm, respectively: [the branching agent concentration in (i)]/[the branching agent concentration in (iii)]≥3 (1); and [the branching agent concentration in (ii)]/[the branching agent concentration in (iii)]≥1.5 (2).
