The headlamp has a changeover device with an element for switching between opaque and transparent conditions to modify the passage of light from an internal source. A headlamp arrangement (1) of a car has a light source (3) and a reflector (4) which reflects the light from the light source onto the travel path in front of the car. There is also a changeover device (5) which has at least one changeover element for switching between opaque and transparent conditions. This is made from a material with chemical and/or physical properties that can be altered by application of a voltage. The changeover device serves to change between dipped beam and main beam. It can be switched between a position for dipped beam, in which it screens light beams sent out from the light source to the lower reflector region or light beams reflected from this, and a position in which it permits these beams to pass. |
