The assembly has a porous electron collector body (110) thermally coupled to an x-ray tube window (102), where the body has a coolant circuit (112). Thermal exchange devices are coupled to the circuit and reduce temperature of a coolant passing through. The coolant outlet directs the coolant at the window surface to impinge upon and cool the window. Independent claims are also included for the following: (a) an x-ray tube including an x-ray tube window (b) a method of operating an x-ray generating device.
