PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pneumatic tire capable of enhancing the braking characteristic when a reinforcing cord layer is arranged on a side wall part. SOLUTION: The pneumatic tire 1 comprises a pair of bead parts 2, a pair of side wall parts 3, a tread part 4 to connect the pair of side wall parts 3, and a carcass 5 which is arranged over the bead parts 2, the side wall parts 3 and the tread part while being folded back at a bead core 6 at end portions of the bead parts 2, and a reinforcing cord layer 10 is provided on the outer side of the carcass 5 at the side wall parts 3 in a rotational direction directing manner. In the reinforcing cord layer 10, an upper end portion 10a is located inward of a grounding end 9, and a lower end portion 10b is located above a fold-back end 5b of the carcass 5. The length Lt of the reinforcing cord layer 10 along the carcass 5 is set to satisfy an inequality Lt < 0.5L, where L is the length from the fold-back end 5b to the grounding end 9 along the carcass 5.
