PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To display a distance to a buddy together with presence. SOLUTION: A mobile machine 11 performs polling to a user data part 26 at a predetermined time interval to transmit location information to a presence server 27 and to receive status information of the buddy and information indicating an extent of proximity with the buddy and displays the presence of the buddy as an icon of a size corresponding to the extent of proximity. In response to polling from the mobile machine 11, a buddy list server 28 calculates a distance to the buddy from the location information and location information of a requested buddy, finds the extent of proximity in comparison with a threshold set by a user and transmits them to the mobile machine 11.
