<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To manufacture a retardation plate having uniform retardation, in which crystallization after the coating and before the temperature rise is prevented. <P>SOLUTION: When an optical anisotropy layer is formed by applying a polymerizable bar-like liquid crystal compound on a support body, consisting of a transparent resin, a coating liquid containing a solvent having the boiling point of ≥90°C and ≤250°C is used.
