The equipment has three incremental coders (44) associated to respective shafts (6, 8, 10). Each coder identifies and measures angular position of an end of the associated shaft. An amplifier is associated to each coder for fining measurement of the coder. The measurements are converted into electrical signals which are processed and compared with predetermined theoretical values. An independent claim is also included for a method of testing operation of a balancing device of an internal combustion engine.
