PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fuel injection device not generating torque shock and distinct change of combustion noise in increasing/decreasing the number of injection times during one injection period. SOLUTION: In switching to a single injection mode, injection quantity of main injection is gradually changed at an interval at which the same does not fluctuate due to influence of pressure pulsation, and injection quantity of pilot injection is gradually reduced in succession. In other way around, in switching to a pilot injection mode, injection quantity of pilot injection is gradually increased at an interval at which the injection quantity of main injection does not fluctuate due to influence of pressure pulsation, and the interval is gradually changed to the interval at normal time in succession.
