PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vacuum cleaner that can take up a power cord without loosening it. SOLUTION: The vacuum cleaner is provided with a spring 14 capable of urging a cord reel 13 in the direction of taking up a power cord 12. A driving roller 42 to take in and out the power cord 12 onto the cord reel 13 is rotationally driven by a motor 45. The cleaner can take up the power cord 12 onto the cord reel 13 by urging the cord reel 13 in the direction of taking up the power cord 12 by the spring 14 and rotationally driving the driving roller 42 by the motor 45 while applying a tension to the power cord 12 in the direction of taking up.
