A door opening and closing device includes a door handle. The opening and closing device includes a magnetic core formed of a soft magnetic body and includes a flexible antenna received in the door handle and working as a transmission and reception device for communicating with a portable device. The opening and closing device includes a handle body, in the back face side of which a cover reception section is formed. The opening and closing device has a cover handle integrally having the antenna and is formed of a flexible resin. The cover handle is fitted and held in the cover reception section. A detection device detects any of approach to, contact with, and operation of a door by an operator carrying the portable device, the transmission and reception device and the portable device communicate with each other to lock or unlock the door.
