<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a road-type determining apparatus for determining on which road an own vehicle is located, even when a highway and a general road run side by side above and below. <P>SOLUTION: The apparatus comprises an imaging means for imaging a white line, crossing a drive lane drawn on a road surface, while being mounted on a vehicle; an image processing means for extracting the white line from a photograph image photographed by the imaging means; and a road-type determining means for determining whether a road on which the vehicle is driving is a freeway or a general road, on the basis of the length of the white line extracted by the image processing means. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI</p> |
