<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a directly underlying backlight effectively suppressing deterioration of luminance caused by intrusion of dust, while effectively restraining an internal atmospheric temperature from becoming high. <P>SOLUTION: This directly underlying backlight is provided with upper and lower frames 11, 14, a diffusing plate 12, and a light source 13. A ventilating hole K to connect an inside space S, which is formed by the lower frame 11 and the diffusing plate 12 and in which the light source 13 is disposed, to the outside is formed to enable ventilation. In addition, the inner wall side of the lower frame 11 and the outermost surface of the rear surface side (portion facing the inside space S) of the diffusing plate 12 are formed into a photocatalyst surface 21a. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
