A method for fitting cladding to steps, e.g. to renovate steps, has profiled mounting strips (6, 7) fitted to either the outer edges of the steps or to the inner ends of the steps and risers. The strips have one edge with a re-entrant profile (18) for clip fitting profiled edges of the cladding and are secured by hidden screw fasteners (12, 13). The opposite edges of the strips have a sliding fit (11) over the adjacent cladding. The strips are flush with the cladding and the step cladding can have an optional grip aid. |
