PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a high quality image forming apparatus by surely preventing ghost by solving, by a simple method, problems in which an image forming apparatus using liquid developer absorbs the liquid carrier of the developer with the use of an liquid absorbent squeezing device after forming a color image of a plurality of colors on a latent image holder, and the image forming apparatus using liquid developer employs a pump for suction therefore become large-sized, also causes transfer of the solid toner component of the developer resulting in the occurrence of ghost. SOLUTION: With the use of a liquid absorbing roller 25, the liquid carrier 40 being a liquid component, is removed from a toner image formed on the latent image holder 11. The toner component sticking to the liquid absorbing roller 25 is cleared away with the use of a dielectric cleaning roller 32, a mesh blade device 47, or by means of discharging the toner component into an image non-formation area or the like.
