<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide new secondary alcohol dehydrogenases usable for synthesizing an optically active secondary alcohol, etc., to provide a DNA encoding the dehydrogenase, a vector having the DNA and a transformed cell transformed with the vector. <P>SOLUTION: Three species of new alcohol dehydrogenases are derived from a microorganism belonging to the genus Gordonia and oxidize 2-butanol using NAD+ (nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide) as a coenzyme.
