PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fishing rod for protecting a sheath. SOLUTION: A middle rod 2, a middle rod 3 and a top rod 4 are successively connected to the front side of a base rod 1 and after the middle rod 2 is removed from the base rod 1, the sheath 5 is connected to the base rod 1. Upper plugs 6 and 7 each for a middle section made of reinforcing wood, respectively are fixed to the inner circumferences of the tips of the middle rod 2 and the middle rod 3 and an upper plug 8 made of reinforcing wood is fixed to the inner circumference of the tip of the sheath 5. The upper plug 8 is connected to the upper plugs 6 and 7 each for a middle section by a string 42. A grip part 43 is formed on the outer circumference at a lower side than the cap 39 of the outer circumference of a ball mouth part (a) at the tip of the sheath 5. In the grip part 43, an elastic member 44 made of a heat-shrinkable tube of a synthetic resin is fixed to the outer circumference of the tip of the sheath 5. A thin thread 45 is wound on the outer circumference of the elastic member and fixed. The outer diameter of the grip part 43 is swollen more than the outer diameter of a cup 10 on the outer circumference of the ball mouth part (a) at the tip of the base rod 1 and thickly formed.
