PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cooling device for an internal combustion engine capable of suppressing boiling of cooling water circulating and cooling the internal combustion engine by an electric water pump after stop of the internal combustion engine, and of suppressing a load to a battery to the utmost. SOLUTION: The electric water pump 3 for supplying cooling water to an engine 1 that is the internal combustion engine and a radiator 4 connected to the engine 1 is operated continuously after stop of the engine, in a state immediately before the stop of the engine. Based on the temperature of the cooling water and temperature variation amount of the cooling water for predetermined time, the electric water pump 3 is controlled, and the flow rate of the cooling water to the engine 1 is controlled.
