PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a spark plug for an internal combustion engine preventing heat erosion of a grounding electrode holder housing. SOLUTION: The spark plug, especially for the internal combustion engine, is provided with a single piece of spark plug housing 2 and a single piece of grounding electrode holder housing 3. The grounding electrode holder housing 3 is provided with at least 2 grounding electrode holder housing parts 3' and 3", consisting of materials different from each other, and/or the grounding electrode housing 3 is constituted so that it is formed from a material different from the spark plug housing 2. Furthermore, the grounding electrode holder housing part 3" on the side facing the combustion chamber has thermal conductivity higher than that of the other grounding electrode holder housing part 3' and/or the grounding electrode holder housing 3 has thermal conductivity higher than that of the spark plug housing 2.
