PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a controller for an internal combustion engine capable of reducing vibration and noise caused in the multi-cylinder internal combustion engine in which an interval of explosion process occurs at unequal interval. SOLUTION: Post injection is performed in such a way that amount of increase of crank shaft angle speed by post injection performed during a period of time when interval is longer among intervals of explosion process which occurs at unequal interval is larger than amount of increase of crank shaft angle speed by post injection performed during other period of time to reduce difference in fluctuation of crank shaft angle speed in each period of time.
