PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To well heat develop a heat development and recording material without lowering the processing speed of heating development. SOLUTION: When heat development and recording materials F different in size are continuously transferred, a low temperature part in which the heating temperature of a heat development section C becomes lower than a prescribed temperature is predicted and the amount of exposure of laser light L when an image recording area corresponding to the low temperature part is scanned is corrected.
