PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device for putting an easy wheelchair and a baby carriage on an escalator. SOLUTION: A front leg 43 of the easy wheelchair or baby carriage 42 is divided into two sections and slide plates 46 are fixed to the sections. A spring is inserted into the inside and journaled by a shaft 44. Before riding on an escalator 2, a care-taker grips a lever 50 attached to a handle 47 and detaches a stopper by which the slide plate 46 is fixed. As the escalator 2 ascends, front wheels 53 are raised as shown in a dotted line in the figure. When the front wheels are raised to a prescribed height, the slide plates 46 are held by a step board 3 of the escalator 2 and the seat surface of the wheelchair or baby carriage is horizontal. When ascending or descending of the escalator 2 is terminated and the escalator 2 is horizontal, the lower part of the front leg 43 is lowered with the reaction of the spring 45 of the shaft 44, and the upper part and lower part of the front leg 43 are fixed by the stopper 48 mounted on the slide plate 46.
