PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a battery type light source device for an endoscope capable of notifying a user of battery exhaustion, forcibly limiting loads and preventing the overdischarge of a battery. SOLUTION: This device is provided with a consumption state detection means for detecting a prescribed consumption state of the battery on the basis of a current supplied to a lamp and a current limiting means for limiting the supply of the current of the battery at a prescribed timing after the prescribed consumption state is generated.
