Method for controlling the portrayal of information in a motor vehicle that has a number of information displays. According to the method: information is stored in a memory; each information item is accessed according to at least one presentation criterion (DK1- DK4) and assigned a criterion result accordingly; each information item is assigned a presentation location based on the criterion result and; each information item is displayed in the allocated location. The invention also relates to a motor vehicle with two or more displays and a control unit that selects on which display information is displayed using the inventive method.
