PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device for detecting humidity, capable of properly detecting the humidity of a wet atmosphere in a short period of time, without performing a heat cleaning treatment for a moisture sensitive section of a humidity sensor. SOLUTION: The device for detecting the humidity is provided with: a casing 11 having an intake port 11a and an exhaust port 11b; a humidity sensor unit 12 which is disposed in the casing 11; an intake air fan 14 which is disposed on the downstream side of the humidity sensor unit 12 in the casing 11; and filters 15, 16 which are permeable to water vapor but not permeable to water and which are disposed on the upstream side of the humidity sensor unit 12 and on the downstream side of the intake air fan 14 in the casing 11, respectively. When the humidity in a bathroom is detected, the intake air fan 14 is operated, and air in the bathroom is sucked in the casing 11 through the intake port 11a and exhausted from the exhaust port 11b, thereby enabling the air to pass through the humidity sensor unit 12.
