PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an endoscope which enables the use of an existing power source processor only usable for the observation of a normal image for the observation of fluorescent images as well. SOLUTION: The base end face of a light guide 15 passed through an insertion tube part 10a is made to face the base end face of the first rod lens 15a, the tip of which is inserted into a light source processor 20 in the mounting with a specified width of clearance therebetween in a connector part 10d at the tip of a flexible tube 10c extending from the side of a control section 10b of the electronic endoscope 10. The second rod lens 15b for relaying the illumination light between the light guide 15 and the first rod lens 15a or a mirror 18a which guides the excitation light outputted from an excitation light source unit 17 onto the base end face of the light guide 15 is inserted into the clearance according to the state of turning off or on a switch SW of the control section 10b. The image signals of the same quality regardless of the state of the switch SW are outputted to the light source processor 20 from the electronic endoscope 10. COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
