PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cable type steering system which can prevent the damage of main components, such as a steering shaft, a driving pulley, a driven pulley, even if an external force due to an obstacle is applied to a tire during the operation of a steering wheel, and an excessive tensile force has been applied to an operating cable for transmitting a rotary motion to the driving pulley and the driven pulley. SOLUTION: The cable type steering system comprises a driving pulley A, a steering shaft 5, two operating cables 3, 3 which are wound on the driving pulley A in the opposite directions respectively, and separate outward from the opposite sides in the direction of the diameter of the pulley, a driven pulley B on which the operating cables 3, 3 are wound and which rotates with the rotation of the driving pulley A, and a pinion shaft. A slip ring 9 is arranged between the steering shaft 5 and the boss hole 2a of the driving pulley A.
