The door closer includes a draw element (30) mounted between the assembly and casement frames (10, 12) and formed by a slack cord (30) to which a gas spring cylinder is connected by its piston rod (32) so that the cylinder can be pretensioned through the cord as the door is opened. The gas spring cylinder is formed as a compressed gas spring whereby the pressurised gas filling loading the piston acts as the energy accumulator to cause automatic closing. Independent claim describes screen door with door closer.
