A device, a medium, a method, and a computer program for recording and reproducing difficult-to-analyze additional information to and from an information recording medium. The bit value in a plurality of DC control bit information setting positions that are set in a recording frame is determined according to the configuration bit information in additional data. For the determination, the additional data, for example, key information to be applied to content decoding, is recorded on the information recording medium. The reproducing device detects the bit value in a selected specific DC control bit storage position in a recording frame adapted to additional data, and acquires the additional configuration bit information. This configuration allows the additional information, such as key information used for content decoding, key generation information, content reproduction control information, and copy control information, to be embedded in a difficult-to-analyze manner and to be read reliably during reproduction.
