The invention relates to a device and a method for processing digital data descriptors stored in the form of description units (25, 35) of predetermined size.The method is such that :- description units (25, 35) are constructed and stored in memory buffers (20, 30, 300a, 300b, 300c, 300d) prior to their recording on a recording medium (11, 108),- description units (25, 35) are utilized simultaneously with the construction and with the recording of description units (25, 35) of the same stream,- one and the same memory buffer (20, 30, 300a, 300b, 300c, 300d) is used for the construction and the utilization of the description unit (25, 35).Application to methods of delayed reading.
