MAGNETIC RECORDING MEDIUM AND ITS MANUFACTURING METHOD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a magnetic recording medium which needs the fine working of a nano order such as a patterned medium and a discrete track type medium at low cost. SOLUTION: A manufacturing method of the magnetic recording medium has a step for forming recessed parts corresponding to a plurality of projecting parts of a die at a substrate by heating the substrate composed of glass to a temperature near to its softening point and pushing the substrate to the die having the plurality of projecting parts in its cross section, a step for depositing a magnetic film on the substrate having the recessed parts and a step for flattening the substrate having the magnetic film formed thereon by polishing.
