PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an air conditioner provided with a compressor driven by an inverter system, ensure the reliability of the compressor and enable accurate failure diagnosis of an electronic controlled expansion valve at the time of service. SOLUTION: This is an air conditioner wherein a compressor, an indoor side heat exchanger, an electronic controlled expansion valve and an outdoor side heat exchanger constitute a refrigerating cycle, and the compressor is driven by an inverter system. This air conditioner is configured to change the maximum frequency of the compressor in the case where the discharge temperature of the compressor is abnormally reduced.
