A corporeal access tube assembly (10) includes tube segment (15) having a pretension member (20) mounted thereon adjacent one end and a bolster (21) for the passage therethrough through which the tube segment passes. The assembly further comprises a system for precisely gauging the proper position for the bolster (21) on the tube segment (15) which comprises a first set of gauge markings on the tube segment (15) in a recognisable series and a second set of gauge markings on the tube segment (15) in a recognisable series.
