INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE FOR STABILIZING COMBUSTION BY REDUCING NONCOMBUSTIBLE COMPONENTS OF EXHAUST GAS

PURPOSE: An internal combustion engine is provided to prevent incomplete combustion of exhaust gas by optimally regulating the opening time and the closing time of the intake valve in a cold state of the internal combustion engine. CONSTITUTION: An internal combustion engine comprises an intake valve(51), an exhaust valve(52), an exhaust gas purification catalyst(93), and a moving valve unit(53). The moving valve unit opens or closes the intake vale and the exhaust valve timely, and closes the intake valve after the bottom dead center of a piston(33) in a hot state of the internal combustion engine. The exhaust valve is opened before the bottom dead center of the piston, and the opening time of the intake valve is advanced from the opening time of the intake valve in the hot state. The closing time of the intake valve is delayed behind the closing time of the intake valve in the hot state, and the opening time of the exhaust valve in the cold state is similar to the opening time of the exhaust valve at the hot state of the internal combustion engine.
