The system has a linear variable differential transformer type distance sensor (4) continuously delivering a signal (44) representing variation of distance between a surface (9a) of a movable object (9) and an inkjet printing head, based on displacement of an arm (5) supporting against the surface to be marked. A variator (6) controls displacement of an electric jack based on the signal such that the distance is constant. An independent claim is also included for a marking device comprising a system for continuously adjusting distance between an inkjet printing head and surface of a mobile object arranged on a conveyor.
