PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a drum locking mechanism capable of locking a drum in taking in and out laundry in a domestic drum type washing and drying machine of a top opening type. SOLUTION: The drum locking mechanism is equipped with a casing 21, a motor 22 provided on the case 21, a motion converting means 28 for converting rotational motion transmitted from the motor 22 to linear motion, and a lock pin 25 which is driven to move in a linear direction by the motion converting means 28, engages a first engaging part 11 of the drum 1, and disengages the engagement state. An engaging protruding part 25a is constituted on the end of the lock pin 25 to have an angle of 0-45°formed by a normal line of a working face for the drum 1 and the first engaging part 11 and the direction in which the lock pin 25 gets in the drum 1. As a result, the lock pin 25 never gets damaged since the lock pin 25 moves back if the drum 1 rotates by receiving an external load while being locked and lateral external force is applied to the lock pin 25.
