<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a travel safety device of a vehicle capable of effectually giving an alarm to an occupant. <P>SOLUTION: When the safety device calculates the relative relationship including the distance between the vehicle and an object based on the result of detection of an object detection means for detecting an object present ahead in the direction of travel of the vehicle, it determines the possibility of contact between the vehicle and the object based on the result. When it determines there is a possibility of contact, it activates in parallel an automatic braking device for automatically decelerating the vehicle and a seat belt device 15 for automatically tightening a seat belt 14 and releasing the tightening. When it determines that there is a possibility of contact based on the brake operation by an occupant, it increases the fastening tension of the seat belt with the seat belt device having priority over the case where it determines that there is a possibility of contact based on the relative relationship between the vehicle and the object. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI</p> |
