OPERATING TEMPERATURE CONTROL UNIT OF EL PANEL, AND EL DISPLAY EQUIPPED WITH THE SAME

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an EL display for fully compensating for the deterioration of pixels even in a CPU having low throughput and for maintaining the power consumption at a low level.

SOLUTION: An EL panel 1 is arranged at a dashboard DB of vehicles. An air conditioner AC sends chill C into a compartment through a duct D. A heat-insulating wall 4 surrounds space S near the rear surface of the EL panel 1. An air flow pipe 6 introduces the cold air C from the duct D to the space S. A luminance measurement section 8A measures the luminance of a pixel 1A on the EL panel 1 by a photosensor 3. A current measurement section 8B measures the drive current of the pixel 1A through a drive section 2. A temperature measurement section 8C measures the operating temperature of the EL panel 1 by a temperature sensor 5. A deterioration information determining section 9A evaluates the deterioration of pixels on the EL panel 1, based on each measurement value. A temperature setting section 10 increases a target temperature to the progress of deterioration of pixels, based on the evaluation value. A flow adjustment section 11 reduces the flow rate of the cold air C in the air flow pipe 6 by a flow control valve 7 according to an increase in the target temperature.
