<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an optical fiber splicing adapter by which two kinds of optical fibers having different mode field diameters are precisely spliced and to obtain a manufacturing method of the adapter. <P>SOLUTION: In an optical fiber splicing adapter 21, a taper section 23 is formed at the fusing section of two kinds of optical fibers 1 and 3 having different mode field diameters by a TEC process. Then, an optical fiber 25 in which a portion with the fixed clad outer diameter is left without being affected by the TEC process is cut out on both sides of the portion whose outer diameter is made thin by the TEC process. A ferrule 28 which stores the optical fiber 25 in a capillary 27 is incorporated in an adapter main body 29. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI</p> |
