摘要 <p>The automatic control of the travelling speed is assessed in an ongoing process regarding foreign objects (11) in the driving lane. If a foreign object (11) is identified the relative distance and speed between the vehicle and the foreign object (11) are calculated. If no foreign object (11) is detected, the relative speed and distance values can be set to the maximum values. An emergency brake unit (5) is employed in the case that the calculation gives rise to fear of collision with the preceding vehicle.</p>
